Each hockey family is required to do a minimum of 30 volunteer hours. Originally these hours were set up to be 15 game hours and 15 tournament hours. The Hockey Board has clarified these hours and added additional opportunities to get your hours as follows. Volunteer Credit Hours may be obtained by doing any combination of the following:
- Working stations during home games
- (i.e. penalty box, clock, announcing, music, score book, goal judge, gate, etc)
- Working stations during tournaments
- (i.e. penalty box, clock, announcing, music, score book, goal judge, gate, etc)
- Assisting with the monthly pull tab audit
- Assisting with the selling of tickets at the weekly meat raffles at Charlies, Third Base or McGuires
Note: when signing up for the “after game clean up” station, again, it is credited for time worked. This is a necessary item and may only take a few minutes, but please take time to make sure the locker rooms are clean, player benches are clean, arena garbage cans are emptied and a new bag put in them & in and under stands swept.
Credit for Hours:
- From Dec. 1, 2010 – January 17, 2011 (games already played) those that worked a station will be given credit for 1.5 hours for each station worked.
- From January 18, 2011 forward, credit will be granted based on actual time worked. (so if a game is done in an hour, you receive credit for an hour, if you work JV and Varsity and are there working for 4 hours, you will be given credit for 4 hours.)
- Each team manager will need to keep a log for signing time in and time out to be tracked and turned in at the end of the season. (if a parent works another level’s tournament or games, please forward that information to the appropriate team manager to log)
- If someone in your family is a hockey coach, you are only required to fill an additional 15 hours of time.
The Hockey Board has worked hard to come up with a solution to volunteer hours. We are all aware it takes many more hours than the required 30 to keep hockey going, so please don’t rely on just a few people to all the work. Many people do above and beyond, such as team managers, Zamboni Drivers, Equipment Manager, Fund Raising coordinators, Board Members, Coaches, etc and do not receive credit.
We all need to work together and remember that hockey is run by volunteers.
Volunteer:
Volunteering is the practice of people working on behalf of others or a particular cause without payment for their time and services.

This is mandatory for all families. This is a great fundraiser for us – remember you didn’t have to do Butter Braids or Moondance Cleanup or sell raffle tickets so we have to make up for all those things. In order to avoid doing another fundraiser we all need to do our part on this. Click here for all the info! |

- You will be scheduled to work the raffle once per year, not necessarily during hockey season.
- The meat raffle at Charlie's is every Wed at 5:30.
- Just show up about 10 minutes before the start time and Laura should be over by the stage in the corner of the bar area.
- Just introduce yourselves to them and then they will announce the start of the raffle.
- They will give you the tickets and an envelope of money each round (usually there are about are 6 rounds) and then you just go around the bar area and ask if they want to buy a ticket.
- Depending on the time of year, you may want to go out to the Boat Bar and sell there. It's a little bit of a hassle to run out there but it gets the tickets sold.
- When you have sold all of the tickets or everyone that wants to buy has bought, just take the rest and the money up to Laura. She will mix them up and then have you pull the winning tickets and announce them and then the next round will start.
- Most people that are out there know there is a meat raffle going on and are there specifically for it so it's not hard to sell the tickets this time of year.
- As far as your kids, you can bring them! If they are younger, have them go around with you just to help with the money part. People just can't say no to their cute little faces! If they have hockey jerseys and want to wear them, that's great, it promotes hockey a little more.
- You are typically done around 7:00pm.

- Squirt thru Varsity unlimited mandatory charge $30.00 and Mites $15.00.
- Please leave your skates after practice in the center of the locker room floor if they need to be sharpened
- They will be sharpened and brought back for the next day's practice or game
- Please plan ahead! Skates should be sharpened the night before game, not game day!
